Starlight Afghan
Well I had a request from a good friend of mine to make this one afghan that has been going around the internet. However, she wanted it changed so that it was a bit smaller as she only wanted a wrap to put around her shoulders or to cover her legs. After much searching I found the pattern. Not bad, or at least I thought. After purchasing this pattern and I began to start. I quickly realized that the instructions were a bit odd and that with the hook size it would not be like the one pictured. So I began to play with various hooks. The pattern called for a 5 mm.
So I started with the size 4 mm since we were going smaller. Stitches were to tight I thought and we decided that the 4 mm would not work. Then I tried the 5 mm, which is what the pattern called for. Better but like I said before it wasn’t looking like the pattern at all. We decided to go up one. On to the 6 mm. Stitches were looser and it looked a lot nicer. So we agreed that that was the one and continue on. After I got the second one made came time to put the two together. This is one of those patterns that you join as you go. This is where the problem came. Are these instructions even written in English? Is there something I’m not getting? Well the first few days it was hit or miss.
As you can see Day 1 I didn’t do to much as I was ripping it apart and back together. But eventually I had the “Ah Ha!” moment and things started to come together and make since. I think looking back on it I was a bit happy that we still had football and cheer practice so that I could actually put it down and walk away. Since I’m the type of person that I won’t do that unless it really comes down to it. So the progress is below along with the finished product.
Day 10 which is the day it was completed.
It measures approximately 37 1/2″ round/square. The border we did all in one color instead of the two. She’s very happy with it and I couldn’t be more than happy just because of that. This can be custom ordered here.
