Here’s a great dish that you can make either as a side or in my case as the main dish. Family just loves it so I have to double the recipe. If you want a single recipe just cut it all down in half.
What you need:
- 3 – 4 bags of frozen tater tots
- 1 stick melted butter
- 1 16 oz sour cream
- 2 cans mushroom soup
- 1 can of french fried onions (you can use smashed corn flakes and regular chopped onion but you would need another half cup of melted butter for top. I’ve found the french fried onions work best)
- 2 cups of milk (I used use the soup cans)
- Pepper
- Shredded cheddar cheese (I get the large block and shred my own)
Here’s what you do:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large baking dish (I use my roaster) mix the better, sour cream, soup, milk, and pepper together.
- Next put in about a handful of the french fried onions and set rest aside.
- Add your cheddar cheese and finally tater tots and mix well.
- Bake for one hour.
- Take out and sprinkle the rest of your french fried onions on top.
- Bake for another 5 – 10 minutes
- Take out and let cool for a bit as it will be very hot.
- Enjoy!
There are so many variations to this that you can also add chicken, ham, or even burger to it prior to baking. I have even made it taco style and fried up my burger with taco seasoning and added that.
